Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
8 Week Program
How can I be assured of the quality of an online program such as this?
This program is led by two qualified trainers with extensive experience teaching online - one based in Singapore and the other based in Canada. Both teachers are available for phone conversations ahead of registration to discuss the program with you. Testimonials are included at the bottom of this page and if you would like to have a conversation with a past participant that can also be arranged - many of our participants are happy to share about their journey through the program and how they benefitted.
What is the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program?
The MBSR program is designed to help you reduce stress, anxiety and chronic pain, and increase well-being and the enjoyment of life. It is a clinically-developed program that takes a secular non-religious view to mindfulness and meditation and is taught throughout the world in hospitals, universities and private organisation. There is a large volume of academic research showing the effectiveness of the program.
What will I learn?
Across the 8 weeks you will learn various theories relating to the mind, perception, and how stress and pain are experienced in the mind and body. Complementing this you will learn various formal mindfulness meditation practices, and how to apply these in a 'practical' way in your daily life. You will reflect privately and within the group with a view to building a more 'friendly' relationship with your thoughts and emotions.
What change can I expect to create in my life?
With consistent practice throughout the program you will be able to bring greater awareness, and an attitude of acceptance, into your everyday life situations. This will make it easier to break out of the automatic or conditioned patterns of 'negative' reacting that plague us all, and choose more helpful ways of responding. Ultimately reducing stress and anxiety and their negative effects on your health.
What time commitment do I need to make?
Participants will meet online weekly for 2.5 hours for 8 weeks. In addition there is the Orientation meeting and a "Day of Mindfulness" practice at home which is an important part of the program. The requirements vary from week to week, but for most weeks you will be expected to practice for up to 45 minutes per day, for 6 days each week.
Is the program right for me?
The MBSR program is great for many people, but not for everyone. We strongly recommend scheduling in a short 1:1 call to discuss whether the program is suited for you. Please contact us to schedule a call at a convenient time.
Who are the teachers?
The program is taught by Damien Crittenden and Erin Flanagan, both experienced and qualified teachers of MBSR, with qualification status from the University of California (San Diego) Center for Mindfulness, within the School of Medicine.
"Ironically, although we all have minds, we seem to need to "re-mind" ourselves of who we are from time to time. If we don't, the momentum of all the doing can take over and have us living its agenda rather than our own, almost as if we were robots, and frenetic robots at that"

Comments from some participants of MBSR taught by Damien Crittenden
“Thank you Damien for guiding me and the group through this 8 week journey which has surpassed all expectations. At the beginning, I was apprehensive about meditation being slow, dull and too serious. I quickly realized how much joy and fun i was experiencing shedding expectations, silencing the chatter, peeling the layers, shifting my lens to a place of freedom and release. A lot of the stress and anxiety we experience in daily life gently falls away when we notice all these mental cobwebs”
“It's an eye opening experience that is best felt when taking the leap to try the MBSR yourself. And the benefits definitely outweigh time commitment and it's great to know you will be in safe hands with Damien :)”
“The MBSR program has helped me become more aware of myself, my feelings, and how I respond to others. It has helped me lower my defences and allow myself to be kinder towards others. I choose my own responses towards situations, people, and myself. This has helped me be less stress, calmer, and a better person. Damien is a kind and very respectful teacher too! I highly recommend the course!”
“Damien was a wonderful mindfulness teacher and the course perfectly balanced the amount of meditation and reflection needed to start one’s own mindfulness practice. It gave students the tools, forum and community to start, learn and grow in mindfulness and it gave me added momentum on my mindfulness journey”
“A good start to the journey of discovery of the richness in everyday life”
